The lighting on thanksgiving night was a spectacular, sherbet colored backdrop. Right when I saw the sun hitting the autumn leaves outside my front door, I grabbed the camera, a blanket, and my twin sister and I ran out into the street to take some head shots, just for fun! It was cold and windy, but we always have a good time doing anything artsy and creative.

That morning I had put on a new dove flash tattoo, just for a little golden detail. Have ya'll tried them yet? I think they're my new favorite accessory. They're so simple and yet they look so feminine and pretty... and flashy!

Today, in this cold but clear weather, my boyfriend and I went exploring around Charlotte! We tried a new restaurant called Tupelo Honey Cafe which was absolutely amazing (with an awesome gluten free menu), we went window shopping at some little stores near Uptown, we sipped on a mint mocha latte from Dilworth Coffee, and we enjoyed the skyline, one of Sean's favorite things. It was the perfect day out!

I tried to wear some color today since I usually stick with neutrals. I topped my UO aztec sweater over a big, baggy thermal my older brother out-grew. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think I may have overdone it a little bit on the brights! Gray, white, tan and black are my signature colors. Oh well... it was worth a shot! What do you think?

Although I've never visited this time of year, I know from movies, friends and family, The Today Show, and pictures, that there is nothing more magical than Christmas in NYC. The magnificent Rockefeller Center tree, wreaths and lights illuminating sky high buildings, ice skating rinks, steaming hot chocolate, heavy snow fall and festive songs... It sounds amazing!

So while I sit here in North Carolina, with my beautiful tree but not-so-festive 70 degree weather, I will daydream about Christmas time in New York...

"We're on a flight to JFK
It's like this plane is Santa's sleigh
In an hour we'll hop a train to Manhattan
We'll leave our bags up in the room
Make our way down 5th Avenue
Baby, tonight it's lookin like magic
A wonderland painted white
All lit up by a million lights
There is no place I'd rather be
Spending Christmas in the city
Oh look the Rockefeller tree
It's so much bigger than we thought it'd be.
Excuse me sir, would you mind taking our picture?
A carriage ride through the park
It feels so perfect, arm in arm.
Baby, we'll find some place warm when it's over..."

Happy Friday, everyone! Can you believe Thanksgiving is in less than a week? My twin sister is coming home tonight and my brother comes home next week and I'm so excited! I love having all my siblings in town. They are the best!

Remember my aztec sweater that I found at Goodwill a while back? Well, one other amazing find that I snatched up while thrift shopping was a giant, cable knit gray sweater. I'm a petite, extra small, 12 year-old sized woman, and this sweater is a men's XL. Do I care? Nope! It was $3.99 and I turned it into a cute sweater dress.

When my obsession with street style blogs began a few years back I kept seeing the trend of women wearing giant sweaters with heeled boots all over the internet. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but either way I knew I wanted to try it! That was when I started adding menswear to my wardrobe. I love the idea of femininity mixed with the rough and toughness of mens clothing. The outfit that I threw on today is extremely comfortable, super cozy, and perfect for a cool fall afternoon.

Have a great weekend, trendsetters!

No, for real... Ask your Grandpa... Can I have his hand-me-downs?
