Happy Friday you guys! Today Sean and I are going to get some delicious coffee at a new place I've been itching to try, The Daily Press CLT, and then we're going to go see American Sniper! I'm so excited. I love coffee and new movies and days off and I love being able to spend every minute of those days with him.

I'm getting over a horrible flu and cough, it's driving me insane, so I've needed lots of coffee to get me through my sleepy, hazy daze. The new flat white from Starbucks, with soy milk, is my reigning go-to! I have ordered it every single time I've gone to get coffee throughout the week. You can see its debut blog photograph below.  A week ago I was cleaning out Sean's closet and I found a 44 dollar giftcard, and it's almost wiped just because I love this beverage so much!

On Sunday Sean and I got some Starbucks at my favorite location in Dilworth, and then we walked to Alpine Ski Shop to look at some shred gear. Now that I have my own snowboard, I'm excited to get the rest of my stuff so I can go shred some pow. Here's what I wore when we went shopping, denim by 3! Stylish, but comfortable enough when you're still on the edge of being sick... do I look like a pro shredder yet?

With the weather getting cooler there are two things that you definitely must add back into your life and fall routine... game day food and a signature sweater.

This sweater dress, which I found at Goodwill last fall, will forever be one of my favorite finds. It's so cozy and comfy, and looks perfect with a cute heeled bootie. I'm a little obsessed with it. Here's how I styled it last year...
And here's how I styled it this morning before work! Similar, but some electric blue eye makeup instead of the color block with a scarf, and a little pattern with some striped socks. So cozy! (via instagram) ...

Isn't that just so stylish yet sleepy? I love a lazy day outfit. Oh and speaking of lazy days... the other day, as I was laying on the couch watching the Panthers game, I started craving some game day food. I knew I wanted something hot and preferably some type of dip (my favorite), but I wanted it to be healthy, so I whipped up my own version of paleo hot spinach dip. So delicious! Here's the recipe...
Spicy Spinach & Caramelized Onion Dip

Ingredients
-1 bag of spinach
-1 tablespoon EVOO
-1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-salt and pepper

-1 yellow onion
-2 teaspoons olive oil

-1 avocado
-1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
-1 teaspoon hot sauce
-1 tablespoon spicy mustard
-1/3 cup coconut milk
-1 tablespoon creamy tahini dressing
-1 teaspoon pepper
-1 teaspoon salt
-1 teaspoon lemon juice

What To Do
In a large skillet, saute a large chopped yellow onion with 2 teaspoons of olive oil until caramelized and golden. Dump into a food processor. Add 1 chopped avocado, red pepper flakes, hot sauce, spicy mustard, coconut milk, tahini, pepper, salt, and lemon juice. Pulse and blend until slightly smooth.

In the same skillet, saute 1 bag of spinach with 1 tablespoon of EVOO, 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder and desired salt and pepper until completely cooked and wilted. Add spinach to the food processor and blend with other ingredients. Add salt and pepper to the completed dip, to taste.

Pour dip into an oven safe bowl, and sprinkle the top with smoked paprika. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes at 375.

Eat with homemade sweet potato chips, sliced bell peppers or corn chips! Enjoy!

One of the things I love to do as the weather gets cooler is transition my wardrobe from summer to fall. I like to mix bright, vibrant colors with deep fall tones. Little by little, you move all the autumnal, warm colors into your drawers and racks and before you know it you're geared up fall! It's simple and easy. Boots with shorts and dresses, hats with summery tops and layers, mix it however you may!

Here's one of my first summer to fall looks...

I don't know the exact reason for it... maybe it's because I'm only 4'10, or maybe it's just part of my DNA, but I have crooked knees. Yep, it's a fact.

I'm sure you've noticed, and you're probably just too nice to comment on them, so thank you. Ever since we were little my twin sister and I were cursed with these crooked caps. Combine funny knees with short legs and you have one dynamic duo! This leads to knee-high boots, which would usually hit at the appropriate place on a normal sized human being, covering up our little petite calves entirely. While it definitely isn't the most figure flattering look, there's no escaping it!

Many of you know I have a crazy love of boots, 13 pairs currently sit in my closet, but because of this goofy knee conundrum, ankle and combat boots are my usual choice. So just to switch it up a little bit, here are some street style shots debuting my beloved Piperlime camel colored riding boots. Hiding my knees but not hindering my style!

The other day my parents, twin sister and I had a fabulous day of shopping, great food, and fun memories! We started off the afternoon at Whole Foods for lunch. Do ya'll ever eat there? I swear I could eat at that place every single day and never get tired of it. Countless choices are gluten free, you have variety in everything from asian salads to italian meatloaf, and you can mix and match whatever you want. Not only that, but their coffee and smoothies are great too!

After lunch we made our way to one of my favorite Charlotte hangouts... the mall, of course! I had been eyeing this patriotic scarf for a while now, and fortunately for me I snatched up the last one they had out on display! We had such a great time listening to holiday music on the loud speakers, spying kids sitting on Santa's lap, and seeing everyone out enjoying their weekend. I love this time of year!

Here's how I styled my new stars and stripes...

Also, yesterday my boyfriend and I were discussing our Christmas gifts and I came up with a new idea for giving back this season... for every one clothing item that I receive, I am going to donate two in return. I think it'll be a great way to give back to people in need while getting rid of items that I just don't utilize anymore. It'll be a happy holiday all around!

Happy Friday, everyone! Can you believe Thanksgiving is in less than a week? My twin sister is coming home tonight and my brother comes home next week and I'm so excited! I love having all my siblings in town. They are the best!

Remember my aztec sweater that I found at Goodwill a while back? Well, one other amazing find that I snatched up while thrift shopping was a giant, cable knit gray sweater. I'm a petite, extra small, 12 year-old sized woman, and this sweater is a men's XL. Do I care? Nope! It was $3.99 and I turned it into a cute sweater dress.

When my obsession with street style blogs began a few years back I kept seeing the trend of women wearing giant sweaters with heeled boots all over the internet. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but either way I knew I wanted to try it! That was when I started adding menswear to my wardrobe. I love the idea of femininity mixed with the rough and toughness of mens clothing. The outfit that I threw on today is extremely comfortable, super cozy, and perfect for a cool fall afternoon.

No, for real... Ask your Grandpa... Can I have his hand-me-downs?

Hello bloggers! How was your Monday? Mine didn't go exactly as planned, but tomorrow is a new day! Recently I decided to grow my bangs out a little and try a middle part, what do you think?
It's not as flat as it will eventually become, but I think I like it! On an extra happy note, today I discovered that the Starbucks chocolate meringue cookie is gluten free. Um, I was so excited! If you haven't tried this cookie yet, you must go out and get one! Melty, gooey, and so delicious.
Speaking of sweets, are you a fan of peppermint bark? I'm obsessed. It is definitely one of my favorite holiday treats. Regardless of the season, I always have a craving for peppermint (it's refreshing and settles your stomach) but when it gets cold outside and Christmas decorations go up, my craving for homemade peppermint bark is through the roof! Yesterday I went to the grocery store and threw the ingredients into my cart with a huge smile on my face. I felt so festive and I couldn't wait to eat it! Here's the extremely simple recipe...

Homemade Peppermint Bark

WHAT YOU NEED

1 bag of white chocolate chips

1 bag of classic peppermints

Wax paper

WHAT YOU DO
Unwrap peppermints and place into double-bagged plastic bags. Crunch the peppermints up (I get intense and use a hammer) until they're smashed into little pieces. In a double boiler, melt the white chocolate chips until smooth. Pour in crushed peppermint and mix together. Once combined, pour the peppermint bark mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and spread until desired thinness. Place in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until completely frozen. Once it's hardened, remove the bark and break into small pieces.

Keep refridgerated and enjoy! Yum!
