Another casual, coffee- date outfit post... can you believe it?? I also wanted an excuse to wear the new Nike sneaks that I got for my birthday! Ha.

Obviously you have all noticed these types of looks are my favorite! The other day I asked my twin sister, "What can I wear on my blog to make my outfits more popular and more similar to other well known blogs?" and one thing I realized was that my ensembles aren't super girly! Most popular bloggers are decked out in monograms, bell skirts and frilly detailing. I love those looks, and I do get dressed up in skirts and dresses from time to time, but on an everyday basis I lean towards casual looks! In the future I'm going to try and dress up my ensembles a little more! What do ya'll think I should add to my wardrobe routine? I'd love to hear your suggestions!

Side note: New Charlotte local coffee obsession.  FABO Coffee & Art Bar off of Park Road. Delicious, affordable & a great atmosphere! I'd definitely recommend it!

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was awesome! Plenty of delicious food, pajamas, and lazy afternoons. I have so, so much to be thankful for! A loving family, an amazing boyfriend, a roof over my head, freedom, great friends, safety, clean clothes, home cooked meals, hot water... the list goes on and on! Aren't we blessed?

One thing that I want to focus on this holiday season is the fact that I wouldn't have anything if God didn't give it to me. He gives and he takes away, and he is so generous! I hate to break it to you...but you don't actually "own" anything that you have! Nope, it's really not yours. He provided it! Isn't that a crazy perspective for Christmas time? We're really lucky, you guys! So over the next few weeks I want to give more than I get! I want to help people have an amazing holiday, and I want to focus on the real "reason for the season!"

Here are some pictures from my family time & Thanksgiving feast...

Doesn't that look like fun? Relaxing with my friends and family is always the perfect recipe for happiness! What do you have to be thankful for and what are your ideas for giving back? I would love some suggestions!

Also, here's a quick preview of my patriotic street style post coming tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Thankful.

Happy Friday, everyone! Can you believe Thanksgiving is in less than a week? My twin sister is coming home tonight and my brother comes home next week and I'm so excited! I love having all my siblings in town. They are the best!

Remember my aztec sweater that I found at Goodwill a while back? Well, one other amazing find that I snatched up while thrift shopping was a giant, cable knit gray sweater. I'm a petite, extra small, 12 year-old sized woman, and this sweater is a men's XL. Do I care? Nope! It was $3.99 and I turned it into a cute sweater dress.

When my obsession with street style blogs began a few years back I kept seeing the trend of women wearing giant sweaters with heeled boots all over the internet. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, but either way I knew I wanted to try it! That was when I started adding menswear to my wardrobe. I love the idea of femininity mixed with the rough and toughness of mens clothing. The outfit that I threw on today is extremely comfortable, super cozy, and perfect for a cool fall afternoon.

No, for real... Ask your Grandpa... Can I have his hand-me-downs?

Hello bloggers! How was your Monday? Mine didn't go exactly as planned, but tomorrow is a new day! Recently I decided to grow my bangs out a little and try a middle part, what do you think?
It's not as flat as it will eventually become, but I think I like it! On an extra happy note, today I discovered that the Starbucks chocolate meringue cookie is gluten free. Um, I was so excited! If you haven't tried this cookie yet, you must go out and get one! Melty, gooey, and so delicious.
Speaking of sweets, are you a fan of peppermint bark? I'm obsessed. It is definitely one of my favorite holiday treats. Regardless of the season, I always have a craving for peppermint (it's refreshing and settles your stomach) but when it gets cold outside and Christmas decorations go up, my craving for homemade peppermint bark is through the roof! Yesterday I went to the grocery store and threw the ingredients into my cart with a huge smile on my face. I felt so festive and I couldn't wait to eat it! Here's the extremely simple recipe...

Homemade Peppermint Bark

WHAT YOU NEED

1 bag of white chocolate chips

1 bag of classic peppermints

Wax paper

WHAT YOU DO
Unwrap peppermints and place into double-bagged plastic bags. Crunch the peppermints up (I get intense and use a hammer) until they're smashed into little pieces. In a double boiler, melt the white chocolate chips until smooth. Pour in crushed peppermint and mix together. Once combined, pour the peppermint bark mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and spread until desired thinness. Place in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until completely frozen. Once it's hardened, remove the bark and break into small pieces.

Keep refridgerated and enjoy! Yum!

Sweet Treats & Middle Parts

Monday, November 18, 2013
When I was in middle school I used to think that being trendy meant loading on as many patterns and accessories as possible. Boy was I wrong! The older I get the more I realize that it has nothing to do with the amount of things you're wearing, but more to do with how you execute the look you have in mind. You don't need a fedora, over-sized glasses, combat boots, an infinity scarf, plaid, chambray, leather, and an army jacket all in one ensemble! Less is more, in my book! Just remember to K.I.S.S...

Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not calling all of you stupid! What I'm trying to say is that I think some of the best outfits come out minimal pieces. Why pile on everything you find? Pick a couple items that you know go well together and just go with it! I'm sure you'll be pleased with the results.

Also, can I just tell you how excited I am for Starbucks red cup season!? Bring on the peppermint mochas and gingerbread lattes, please! Yum, yum, yum. Stay tuned tomorrow for my 2nd fall treat post!

Hope all of you are having a fantastic Saturday! Incase you didn't get a chance to check it out yesterday, today I'm sharing my guest post via Summers in Seersucker! Hope you enjoy...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First off I want to say thank you so much to Megan for letting me guest blog! I love her site and her style, for someone of 16. Don't you? If you haven't yet, be sure to check out her guest post on my blog yesterday! (2 days ago) Anywho...

With pumpkins on every porch and the scent of turkey and Christmas trees gradually wafting our way, there's one particular item that is a "must-add" to your wardrobe... a sweater. It sounds simple, right? Oh no big deal, let me just go to the mall and pick one out. Wrong. Very, very wrong. The daunting task of picking out the perfect sweater this time of year is overwhelming. How can you narrow down your choices with so many amazing options!?

elbow patches or no elbow patches?

stripes or polka dots?

neutral or bright?

crew-neck or v-neck?

graphic print or solid?

long sleeve or fourth sleeve?

cropped or tunic?

cashmere or wool?

The list goes on and on, people! So today I'm going to give you four easy options, just incase you're in a sweater-rut this season. Hopefully one of them will suit your style!

1) J.Crew Camel Sweater - What's the nativity scene without the oh-so-recognizable camel? Not only does it combine neutral tones with a fun graphic print, but it's also extremely versatile! Pair it with some patterned pants any day of the week, and you're J.Crew model status.
2) ASOS Elastic Cross-back Sweater Dress- Just because you're wearing a big cozy sweater doesn't mean you can't look glamorous. This ASOS dress is the perfect way to stay comfortable and chic. Black, backless, and ideal for cooler weather!
3) Nasty Gal Rush Knit Sweater- I've already mentioned in previous posts how much I love plaid for fall. It's pretty much the most "mountainy, jumping-in-leaves, hiking, cocoa-drinking" print around. I love it in almost every color, but red and black is a classic that'll always be number one in my book.
4) Madewell Wafflestitch Colorblock Sweater- One of my favorite looks is the "baseball tee" look. Different color sleeves with a solid body is extremely chic! Don't you know that the baseball fad is in right now? Throw on a Yankees cap and hit the streets!

Which one is your favorite? If you pick one out and feel the urge to order, share a picture with us! We'd love to see it! Be sure to follow my blog at www.TrendyLindy.com! Thank you again, Megan!

While I was rocking my thrifted tribal print sweater, my twin sister (and photographer) was also looking stylish! One thing I love about autumn is wearing neutrals. Any combination of muted colors looks fabulous juxtaposed against fall leaves and overcast weather. This simple look combines sandy browns and mossy greens to create an earth-toned ensemble that looks casual, yet on trend!

Although my sister and I look very much alike in many ways, one thing I've always admired about her is her extra fair complexion and amazingly blue eyes. They seem to pop no matter what she's wearing! She also has a beautiful smile that I envy so much! I love her to the moon and I love taking street style shots with her. Here's how she wore her latest fall look...
