This weather lately has been so bipolar! Sunday I was taking pictures in the beautiful 70 degree sunshine, and yesterday it was pouring rain and sleet. I mean what!? The sky can't make up it's mind! Thankfully, the dreary weather made it the perfect setting to get some delicious brunch at Tupelo Honey (open-faced gluten free veggie melt, of course) and sip on a Starbucks skinny peppermint mocha.

My sweet man sent me an e-gift the other day, just to cheer me up and show me some love, so I picked up a sweet treat and jammed to John Mayer and Sara B, on him. It was a lovely afternoon!

Here's what I wore! Photos taken in my room to escape the down-pour. Leading accessory, my sweet pup Rocky...
Tiger Muscle Tee, Urban Outfitters. Denim (DIY Distressed), Abercrombie. Loafers, DSW. Chanel Style Coat, Ann Taylor. Eye Make-up, Revlon.

Have a lovely Tuesday!

One trend that I've always loved, but haven't exactly utilized until now, is the boho headband. I can't explain to you how much I love hippie style. Headbands, turbans, tops, cut-offs, beading... It has always inspired me! I want to incorporate it into my wedding. I love long cascading hair, silky blouses, billowy silhouettes, sheer elements, floral designs, simplicity with flare. I'm in love with the idea! It's definitely hard to incorporate it into my look all the time, sometimes I like classic items, or popular trends that aren't "hippie-boho-hipster" come about, but I often try to mix it in if I can!

Here are a few "pin-spiration" boho looks that I'm obsessing over. Now if only I could find the seeds to my money tree...

In other news... I've mentioned it before and I'm not ashamed to talk about it again... the chocolate meringue cookie from Starbucks is one of THE BEST gluten free treats (under 2 dollars) that I have ever tasted in my life. Melt in your mouth chocolate chips with a light crust that breaks over the top after coming out of the oven. Oh my yum. It is so good! The bad news? Starbucks announced it's discontinuing it. Yep, they're taking away my cookie dream! Thanks a lot, Starbucks! I'm one of your biggest fans! How could you do this to me!? (Tear.)
So if I walk into a Starbucks, and I see this poor little abandoned cookie sitting behind a glass counter, showing it's little "adopt me" puppy eyes... I snatch it up! I eat it and love it and give it a good little cozy home in my hungry, gluten intolerant belly.

Happy hump day, readers. To all my college friends preparing for exams, good luck! I know you are going to do great. Never wish college away, it ends in a blink!
Anywho, I hope you all are doing fabulously. It's almost the weekend, hooray! Here are some things that brightened my day today...

-This morning my older sister was having a sleepy work day so before I went out and started running my errands I brought her some coffee. It was around 10 a.m. when I walked into the Starbucks nearest my house and as soon as I crossed the threshold I immediately started smiling. There is something so electric and fun about a busy coffee shop, regardless if it's local or chain. Business men dressed in suits and ties, stay at home moms discussing holiday parties and gym schedules, Christmas music over the loud speakers and the smell of lattes in the air. Ah, it is a glorious combination! No matter the city, no matter the day, I will always love that.

-Even when you are just sitting around by yourself, sometimes there is nothing better than a good hair day. I had to document this "no bang" look I had going earlier! What do you think? I hate my bangs one minute and love them the next!
-I have always wanted to pay it forward in a drive-thru line. I know that this is a popular thing to do, and lately I've been wanting to try it! Today I woke up knowing I wanted to treat somebody else to something as simple as a little pick-me-up. I went out of my way to go to a Starbucks drive-thru (even though I was only ordering a water) just so I could purchase some coffee for the person behind me. I loved it! So to the random lady driving the black Infiniti, I hope you enjoyed your banana bread and soy chai latte! You deserve it!
What made your Wednesday special?

Merry & Bright

How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was awesome! Plenty of delicious food, pajamas, and lazy afternoons. I have so, so much to be thankful for! A loving family, an amazing boyfriend, a roof over my head, freedom, great friends, safety, clean clothes, home cooked meals, hot water... the list goes on and on! Aren't we blessed?

One thing that I want to focus on this holiday season is the fact that I wouldn't have anything if God didn't give it to me. He gives and he takes away, and he is so generous! I hate to break it to you...but you don't actually "own" anything that you have! Nope, it's really not yours. He provided it! Isn't that a crazy perspective for Christmas time? We're really lucky, you guys! So over the next few weeks I want to give more than I get! I want to help people have an amazing holiday, and I want to focus on the real "reason for the season!"

Here are some pictures from my family time & Thanksgiving feast...

Doesn't that look like fun? Relaxing with my friends and family is always the perfect recipe for happiness! What do you have to be thankful for and what are your ideas for giving back? I would love some suggestions!

Also, here's a quick preview of my patriotic street style post coming tomorrow! Stay tuned!

Thankful.

Hello bloggers! How was your Monday? Mine didn't go exactly as planned, but tomorrow is a new day! Recently I decided to grow my bangs out a little and try a middle part, what do you think?
It's not as flat as it will eventually become, but I think I like it! On an extra happy note, today I discovered that the Starbucks chocolate meringue cookie is gluten free. Um, I was so excited! If you haven't tried this cookie yet, you must go out and get one! Melty, gooey, and so delicious.
Speaking of sweets, are you a fan of peppermint bark? I'm obsessed. It is definitely one of my favorite holiday treats. Regardless of the season, I always have a craving for peppermint (it's refreshing and settles your stomach) but when it gets cold outside and Christmas decorations go up, my craving for homemade peppermint bark is through the roof! Yesterday I went to the grocery store and threw the ingredients into my cart with a huge smile on my face. I felt so festive and I couldn't wait to eat it! Here's the extremely simple recipe...

Homemade Peppermint Bark

WHAT YOU NEED

1 bag of white chocolate chips

1 bag of classic peppermints

Wax paper

WHAT YOU DO
Unwrap peppermints and place into double-bagged plastic bags. Crunch the peppermints up (I get intense and use a hammer) until they're smashed into little pieces. In a double boiler, melt the white chocolate chips until smooth. Pour in crushed peppermint and mix together. Once combined, pour the peppermint bark mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper and spread until desired thinness. Place in the freezer for about 10 minutes or until completely frozen. Once it's hardened, remove the bark and break into small pieces.

Keep refridgerated and enjoy! Yum!
